Standing just outside the Mission since 1935, It’s Tops establishes itself “Where good friends meet” and prides itself on it’s 1950s feel of pine walls, vinyl booths, classic diner stools, and jukeboxes with tunes of the decade. It’s probably not a surprise, but It’s Tops welcomes shoots for feature films, television, commercials, and music videos.
I can’t object to their tagline – my experiences there have always been with people I really value in my life, whether for that first cup of hot black coffee or a late night feed after half a dozen drinks. And on this morning, I splurged, opting for an omelet and home fries, which doesn’t really help me wake up, but my body wants more than to be the dude in Eric Prydz’s Call On Me music video.
As we linger to finish our coffee refills, the staff lets us snap a few pics without trying to hide it. They get that it’s a special place for anyone to visit, even if it’s your fifth or sixth time.
